Taking Inventory
Sometimes I wake up and feel
Like I don’t want to be here
It sounds concerning
But I’ve come to realize
What that really means is
“I’m tired of living…in this way”
Something needs changing
Whether macro or micro adjustments
Such as quitting a job
Or taking a different route for a walk
This “not wanting to live” feeling can seem so big
Desperate
Emotional
Taking inventory can be helpful
What may be contributing to this feeling?
What could be done differently?
Is there something in my relationship, job, or environment that needs changing?
Identifying reasonable action steps from there
Most of the time it’s the monotony that gets to me
Feeling stuck in a box
Moving through the same routines
Never leaving the house
Or when I do
Driving within a 5 mile radius
Home is my safe place
However,
A free spirit cannot be contained
For long
That’s when this feeling comes to point in a different direction
Setting spirit free
Not from this world
But from restriction and routine
So if this feeling comes around
Remember:
It’s not the world you need to leave
It’s your current state of being
